A REST

ID:I GALLERI, Stockholm 2017

A REST revolves around a choreography of isolation. The title of the show refers to the Swedish word ”rest” meaning residue or paraphernalia. It also refers to an involuntary stop - an arrest.

An installation of materials/shapes/colors arranged and rearranged in relation to one another. The materials are residues from previous projects and originally belong to different strands of Grevelius’ practice.
The body (the artists body) acts as a representation of an experience, which is sensed rather than seen. At first, it is the body’s movement in the space that dictates the layout of the installation. But after a while, as the room gets filled, the body starts following the logic of the space. It slowly becomes part of the installation, attempting to fit in and finding places to breath within it. The installation depicts the city and is a tribute to its traits. It is a yearning to take part in, and be a part of, architecture.
